On 10 February 2026, Progress made available a new major release, OpenEdge 13.0. This new major version is part of the standard innovation cycle, meaning it focuses primarily on new capabilities and enhancements, while the previous release, OpenEdge 12.8, is positioned as a version focused on long-term support and compatibility (LTS)

Key Highlights

AI readiness

  • “Explain what this ABL program does”
  • “Propose a refactoring of this procedure”
  • “Generate unit tests for this code”

Security enhancements
Continues the development of security features introduced in version 12.8, with the goal of protecting critical enterprise applications.

Developer productivity
Includes features that increase developer efficiency, including improvements to the OpenEdge ABL (Advanced Business Language) development environment.

Infrastructure management
Expands capabilities for managing network, application, and database infrastructure.
